Guidelines for Contributors
We invite submissions of articles, research reports, and bibliographies. The journal's primary focus is on historical studies that explore the religious cultures of people of African descent in the United States. We will, however, consider work from other disciplines and/or that deals in a comparative way with other areas of the African diaspora, as well as with regions in Africa.
The North Star is a fully peer-reviewed journal. Each article submitted is reviewed by the editor, sent out for anonymous review by a scholar in the field, and then evaluated in light of the reviewer's report. In certain instances, the members of the Editorial Board may also be called upon to participate in the decision-making process regarding publication.
The journal is currently undergoing a transition to a new editoral staff and institutional location. Please check back soon for information about the new process for submitting articles for consideration for publication.
